Self Intimacy Masterclass
Tuesday October 13th Online
In a world starving for deeper connection, start with the relationship you take everywhere.
We are living through what I call The Modern Intimacy Crisis.
We have more ways to connect than ever before, yet so many of us feel lonely, touch-starved, overstimulated, disconnected from our bodies, afraid of rejection and unsure how to create the depth of relationship we actually crave.
And this isn't only a social and cultural problem.
It becomes deeply personal.
It shows up in the relationships where we struggle to communicate what we need. In dating, where we perform instead of allowing ourselves to be known.
In friendships that stay on the surface. In our difficulty receiving love, attention, pleasure or touch without immediately giving something back.
In the boundaries we don't recognise until they've already been crossed.
In the endless stimulation we reach for because being alone with ourselves feels uncomfortable.
And in the strange experience of being surrounded by people while still feeling profoundly unseen.
The Modern Intimacy Crisis doesn't just happen between us.
It can happen within us!!!!!!!!
SO WHERE DO WE BEGIN?
With self-intimacy. this is the practice of buildign our capacity for deeper connection. the deeper we go with ourselves, the more ability for have for connection with others.
Self-intimacy is the practice of developing a deeper relationship with your own internal world your body, emotions, needs, boundaries, desires, pleasure, truth and aliveness.
Because intimacy with another person asks something of you.
Can you notice what you're feeling?
Can you stay present when something becomes uncomfortable?
Can you recognise what you need?
Can you receive?
Can you communicate a boundary?
Can you tell the truth when there's a possibility someone won't like it?
Can you allow yourself to be seen?
These are capacities.
And they can be practised.
Before practising them in the higher-stakes arena of dating, sex, partnership, friendship or conflict, self-intimacy gives you somewhere much safer to begin.
No date required.
No partner required.
No relationship required.
No one to impress.
Just you, becoming more fluent in yourself.
THE LOWEST-PRESSURE PLACE TO PRACTISE INTIMACY
Think of self-intimacy as the training ground for connection.
It's one of the most accessible, low-pressure, low-risk and cost-effective ways to begin understanding yourself more deeply.
You don't have to wait until you're in a relationship.
You don't need somebody else to participate.
You don't need to completely change your life.
You can practise it in your bedroom.
In the shower.
While you're walking.
While you're making art.
Through breath.
Through touch.
Through pleasure.
Through asking yourself a question and actually staying around long enough to hear the answer.
Every time you practise meeting yourself, you're strengthening your capacity to meet somebody else.
WHAT WE'LL EXPLORE
This isn't just a conversation about self-intimacy.
I'm going to give you a framework for actually beginning your own self-intimacy practice.
Together, we'll explore the (Tender) core capacities that help you build a deeper relationship with yourself and practical ways you can begin bringing them into your everyday life.
We'll explore slowing down enough to notice what's happening inside you, reconnecting with your body, recognising your needs and desires, practising receiving, exploring self-touch and pleasure, strengthening emotional awareness and expressing yourself more authentically.
You'll leave with a framework you can return to again and again something to help you ask:
What am I feeling?
What do I need?
What do I desire?
What am I avoiding?
What wants to be expressed?
And what would it look like to actually meet myself here?
Because self-intimacy isn't something you either have or don't have.
It's a relationship you practise.
And the more fluent you become in your own internal world, the greater your capacity can become for intimacy with somebody else's.
START WITH YOU. THEN LET IT RIPPLE OUTWARD.
We aren't going to solve the Modern Intimacy Crisis simply by giving people more opportunities to connect. Instead of feeling lonely.
We need to rebuild our capacity for connection.
And one of the safest places to begin practising that capacity is with the one human being you'll spend your entire life with:
you.
Self-intimacy isn't the destination.
It's the pathway that takes you through deeper intimacy.
